What is a Unix timestamp
A Unix timestamp, or epoch time, is the time elapsed since 1 January 1970, 00:00:00 UTC. Logs, APIs and order systems use it because one number means the same moment everywhere, with no time zone to misread.
Converting epoch to exchange time
Pick an exchange, then paste a timestamp. The converter applies that exchange's time zone and daylight saving rules for that date. For example, 1800000000 is 13:30:00 IST on NSE, 03:00:00 EST on NYSE and 08:00:00 GMT on LSE.

FAQ
Why do timestamps have different lengths?
The length shows the unit. 10 digits is seconds, 13 is milliseconds, 16 is microseconds and 19 is nanoseconds. They all count the same way, so 1800000000 and 1800000000000 are the same moment.
Does a Unix timestamp depend on the time zone?
No. A timestamp marks one moment worldwide. The time zone only changes how that moment is displayed, such as 13:30 in Mumbai and 03:00 in New York.
What time does the US market open in India?
NYSE and Nasdaq open at 19:00 IST during US daylight saving and 20:00 IST the rest of the year. They close at 01:30 or 02:30 IST the next day. The IST times move because the US changes its clocks and India does not.
Why does the MCX closing time change?
MCX non-agri commodities close at 23:30 IST during US daylight saving and 23:55 IST the rest of the year. The change follows US clocks because these contracts track global prices.
Why does my NSE order timestamp show a date around 2016?
NSE tick-by-tick feeds count nanoseconds from 1 January 1980, not 1970, so a plain Unix conversion reads about 10 years early. Paste the 19-digit value and choose NSE feed under Counted from.
Does the market status include holidays?
No. Open and closed are based on regular weekly hours only. A market can be closed or close early on a holiday even when this site shows it as open, so check the exchange calendar.
